"Simply put, I love paddling. And I love to share that passion with others."
Coldspring Paddling Instruction is a paddling instruction school based in Saskatoon and created by kayak instructor Bryan Sarauer. Bryan is excited to be sharing his passion for paddling with new kayakers. Certified by Paddle Canada to teach Introduction to Kayaking and Level 1 Sea Kayak Skills courses, Bryan is continuing to advance his paddling education to ensure that you get the best instruction possible. In 2011 Bryan completed the PC Level 2 skills course in BC, paddling the never-still waters off of Quadra Island for a week. Bryan is looking to expand his paddling experience and looks forward to embarking on the next step in the PC course progression, Level 3 Sea Kayak Skills followed by Level 2 Instructor.
Bryan is a kayaker, kayak instructor, canoeist, year-round camper, biologist, father, and husband. Bryan is an active builder of the paddling community through past involvement in the Saskatoon Canoe Club and his current position on the Paddle Canada Board of Directors where he represents paddlers from Saskatchewan and across the country. Recently, Bryan was nominated for and accepted the position of Secretary on the Paddle Canada Board, taking over from one of his paddling mentors, Doug Taylor.
He is passionate about paddling and the outdoors, and he tries to share that with the people around him, especially his kids. He is also continually learning - learning how to be a better paddler & instructor, learning how to lessen his impact, and learning about the world around him.
Bryan is pretty sure he is the only sea kayak instructor around with a Roughrider logo proudly displayed on the bow deck of his kayak. His only disappointment was that his kayak wasn't available in Roughrider green.
Below, Bryan demonstrates his committment to improving his skills by practising in 'adverse conditions': (Read about what Bryan learned by practising in icy water on his personal blog at http://pawistik.blogspot.ca/2012/04/out-practising-what-i-preach.html)
