Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Instructor

Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Instructor

I love teaching kayak lessons and it's time to start sharing the fun. I am now offering Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Instructor Courses!  Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer Extraordinaire Tony Palmer will be joining us all the way from Calgary to help deliver this course and to ensure that you get the best instructor training experience possible. Tony is fun to work with and has a wealth of paddling and instructing information.

This course starts Friday evening (September 28, 2018) and will continue through to the end of the day on Sunday (September 30). It's a long course with lots of material, and you can expect homework (e.g. lessons plans and teaching assignments) before & after the course. Friday evening will be a classroom session. The remainder of the weekend will be either on the water or at lakeside. Note that the paddling and recovery/rescue sessions of this course is being held entirely outdoors at the end of September. Expect the water to be COLD! A good wetsuit is a minimum requirement.

Kayaks for this course are required to be seaworthy with fore and aft bulkheads and full perimeter lines. If you would like to discuss the suitability of your kayak for this course, please contact me ahead of time. I will have a couple of kayaks available for use if prearranged, otherwise please make arrangements to rent a kayak from your favourite local paddling shop.

Leading up to the course in August and September I intend to hold a couple of practice sessions to refine some of the paddling techniques and recovery skills.
