Based on the Paddle Canada Basic Kayak course, this is a shorter session for those that don't want to commit to a full Basic Kayak course, or aren't sure if kayaking is for them (and don't want to wait for warmer weather). It gives students an opportunity to try out kayaking for the first time in a controlled setting.
This course offers some of the most basic concepts used in recreational flatwater kayaking but is not designed to be a comprehensive course. You will be introduced to the basics of kayaking rescue techniques (how to get back in your kayak after a mishap), will learn how to launch a kayak, and will be introduced to kayak strokes. All required equipment is supplied.
The lessons are each a total of 5 hours of course time.
This is a skills-based clinic. These fun 5 hour clinics will focus on the following techniques (content will vary a bit depending on the group and as time allows):
None. This course would be suitable for kids 12 or older.
Maximum of 6 participants (class will be cancelled if there are not at least 3 people 10 days prior to the course).

Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre (HBAC) is located just off of Idylwyld Drive in Saskatoon near Saskatchewan Polytechnic (1110 Idylwyld Drive North). Sometimes they don't allow us to enter the pool area too much before our pool time so if you show up quite early they may not let you in to the change rooms. We usually meet on the pool deck (look for the rack of kayaks). Since we are not into the water until for a bit of time, don't shower when you come out to the pool area.
