As a special "thank you" for another great season of lessons, I am offering this unique course. A friendly group paddle with some instruction, perfect for those that aren't quite comfortable heading out on the river on their own yet or want to refine some of their skills. This paddle is for those that have already taken one of my courses, it shouldn't be your first time in a kayak. Part just for fun, part bonafide course, part MS fundraiser.
Rather than charge a fee, I am asking participants to donate to my MS Bike Tour fundraising: A suggested donation is $40 since that is about what I'd normally charge for a course of this length.
Donations can be made via the link here (or the graphic at the bottom) or to me in person. Receipts from the MS Society will be issued as appropriate.
We will meet at Gabriel Dumont Park at 12:45 pm so that we can get on the water by about 1:00. We will plan to be off the water at about 3:00 or so - if the weather is gorgeous I might be enticed to stay just a bit longer on the water.
As usual, dress for paddling in clothes that can get wet. Bring sweaters and an extra layer of clothes in a dry bag so that you can add layers as the temperature drops. A paddling jacket or windbreaker is a good idea. A water bottle and a small snack are also good to bring along. I will have some paddling jackets, gloves, and so on to loan
For some of my students that are of the younger set, under 15 years old, I would ask that you only come if you are joined by a parent or guardian who has also taken a course.

Gabriel Dumont Park is off of Saskatchewan Crescent West which can be reached at the west end of 8th St. or Taylor St. There is a parking lot here and a washroom facility, as well as a nice sandy beach area for easy launching and landing. Depending on the lesson and the weather, I may have a tarp set up near one of the picnic sites.
