An agreement is in place between Coldspring Paddling Instruction and the Saskatoon Canoe Club to teach introductory sea kayaking lessons to SCC members for the 2011 season. Participants will have a choice of signing up for a 4-hour very basic course, or an 8-hour Paddle Canada certified Introduction to Sea Kayaking (IK) course.

The shorter course is geared toward helping people decide if this is an activity they wish to pursue further, while the 8-hour PC-certified IK course is intended to set the foundation for a lifetime of paddling. Both courses will teach the parts of a kayak, how to get in and out of a kayak, teach basic paddle strokes, and give you the opportunity to practise wet exits and "rescue" techniques in the comfort of a pool. The full Introduction to Sea Kayaking course will go into more depth on the aspects described above, will give you more opportunity to practice the techniques, and will add several more components into the mix. Visit the Courses page at the SCC website for more information and to find out how to sign up for these course.
