Here is a video interview I did a couple of years ago for CBC following Red Cross National Life Jacket Day. Actually, they barely used any of the interview they did with me. You can also read some of my comments regarding the interview at my personal blog at http://pawistik.blogspot.ca/2010/05/national-life-jacket-day.html.
Did you know that 2012 marks the 40th anniversary for Paddle Canada? The Canadian Recreational Canoe Association, now known as Paddle Canada, came into being in 1972.
"Today, Paddle Canada's national paddling programs have proven themselves to be the ideal mechanism to extend and deliver our mandates of environmental awareness and protection as well as the preservation of the canoe and kayak as a part of our national heritage. More Canadians are, and continue to be, exposed to Paddle Canada's message through our instructional programs than ever before.
Paddle Canada currently represents over 1,500 Individual Members, 8 Regional Member Associations and 2 Affiliate Member Associations. Through each of our members and programs we are able to successfully and consistently deliver the message of safe and enjoyable paddling to more than 50,000 paddlers annually."
Coldspring Paddling Instruction is proud to be offering programs that are recognized across the country and beyond from Canada's national recreational paddlesports organization.

Are you ready to take your paddling to the next level? Coldspring Paddling is offering two Level 1 Kayak Skills courses this summer and they promise to be a lot of fun. Ideal for those that have taken an Introduction to Kayaking course, or have other kayaking expereince but maybe no formal courses, this course makes sure you have the basics down pat and gets you ready to take your paddling to a higher skill level. During our 12 hours of course we cover all the basics of day paddling, but add in more details and expect more from the paddlers.
We have a 2-day course at Candle Lake which runs Aug 1st & 2nd (Wed & Thurs). We are also running a course at Blackstrap which runs on the evening of Aug 22nd (pool session, Wed), Aug 25th (Sat) during the day, and will finish up on the morning of Aug 26th (Sun). For more information about the Level 1 courses, visit the Level 1 page.
Coldspring Paddling will be teaming up with canoe instructor Howard Sproat, and the Craik Sustainable Living Project Health Committee to bring paddling to Arm Lake by Craik. We will be offering short clinics to give folks from the area a taste of paddling. I'll be there doing sessions in kayaks, while Howard will be introducing people to canoeing. Check it out at http://craikecovillage.com/education_heart_stroke.html.
